Between centres whenever several diameters must stay concentric to one axis — the centre holes are the datum, so inspect and lap them before precision work. Chucks or collets take over when there are no centres or a bore is the reference. On the MG Series, slender work past roughly ten diameters of unsupported length wants a steady rest carrying the span.

Every machine in the MG Series range is laser-measured to ISO 230-2 over its travels, cuts a test piece that is measured rather than admired, and ships with a serial-numbered report carrying the measured values. If any line misses, the machine goes back into the shop until it passes — the report is a record, not a promise.
